It all started in 1988 when Kathy Hamilton and her husband took their two young daughters on a trail ride at Snowshoe. Brett, 8, and Kensie, 6, were bit by the horse bug that very day. That trail ride set into motion a life-long obsession with horses that spread through the Hamilton family.
Over the years Kathy finally broke down and bought the girls their first horse—that they were to share. Sharing a horse (even one over 17 hands) was difficult and led to the purchase of two five-gaited horses and many other over the years. Their trainer since the beginning, Dotty Martin, made a move to a barn in Princeton where the girls rode for three years.
This is where Hamilton Farms was born. Worried about the family’s travels to Princeton, WV Kathy decided it was time to build a barn on the 40-acre farm they owned on Cooper Creek.
Since 1999 Hamilton Farms has been in operation under various management. As of 2002 Kathy, Alicia and Sharon have been running the facility. The Hamilton Farms family runs our barn differently than most. We encourage the involvement of the entire family. We have the kind of barn where you not only learn to ride but also to take care of your horse, tack up and ride or drive your horse. We strive to ensure that you learn all you can about the care of horses.
For any one bit by the horse bug, Hamilton Farms is that place for you. |
